Lucy was headed toward the ocean yesterday and we were thrilled that she was going in the right direction, but her timing wasn't the best.   While the river was full and vibrant when she entered to raise her calf, after six weeks, the river has become more shallow, exposing the riverbeds and surprise sandbars mid river.

The mother California Grey Whale and her calf  (Lucy and Little Ricky) are still here in the Klamath River.   They are hanging out closer and closer to the shore, delighting people who are now coming from neighboring cities all over to see them.   It appears, however, that the whales are having as much fun watching us as we are watching them.    You'll see in one part of this new video that Lucy ...

Kamp Klamath this morning is all abuzz with the news that a gray whale and her young calf have taken a detour from the ocean and come just a mile or two up the Klamath River!    It's only the fifth time in recent history that a whale has come up the river.     People came from out of the woods, literally, to watch and talk in hushed tones in the pouring rain.&n...
