The California Roots Music and Arts Festival is a three-day event packed with live music, fantastic food, refreshing beverages, creative artwork and sustainable practices. Reggae acts from around the globe culminate at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center for good vibes during the Memorial Day weekend.

ARTICHOKE FESTIVAL
June 4-5, 2016
Monterey County Fairgrounds


Celebration of all things artichoke.  Learn more about the artichoke than you would ever care to know.   It IS California's state vegetable, after all. There's a parade, artichoke foods, cooking demos, artichoke art and farmer's market.
Open from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday,

Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for children at the gate.

MONTEREY BEER FESTIVAL
June 11, 2016

The Monterey Beer Festival brings beers from over 80 breweries.  You'll have the chance to taste unusual offerings from major beer companies as well as fantastic beers from unknown brewing companies from around the world!  There will be lots of food and live entertainment.

12th ANNUAL CARMEL VALLEY ART AND WINE CELEBRATION
June 18, 2016
Carmel Valley Village


This event showcases over 60 local artists, music and wines.  The event is free unless you want to sample the wines.  Celebrate some of the wonderful sights, tastes and talent Carmel Valley has to offer.

Because parking is limited, there will be complimentary service to Carmel Valley provided by the MST Grapevine Express.

BACON FEST
June 25-26, 2016

Monterey Fairgrounds

Todd Fisher, host of TV's United States of Bacon will be serving up his bacon dishes all day.  In addition to featuring Baker's Bacon there will be Tony Baker himself serving up his favorite Bacon dishes.  There will be music, food, bacon Marys, vendors and bacon art.  

All make for a family friendly event.  All ages welcome!

Be sure to bring hats and sunscreen.  Umbrellas and full-sized chairs are permitted to watch the day long music,  but please set up on the sides so you don't block views.  You may bring lawn chairs, without legs, that sit on the ground and provide back support.  There will be limited bleacher seating.

No animals allowed.

General admission passes are $12 when purchased in advance and $15 at the gate. Military and children passes are $7 when purchased in advanced and $8 at the gate.

4th OF JULY FESTIVITIES

There are NO fireworks programs on the Monterey Peninsula

Monterey
The holiday kicks off with a  4th of July parade at 10am which marches down Alvarado Street.  Afterwards walk over to the annual lawn party on the grass in front of Colton Hall on Pacific Street from 11am to 4:30pm. The entire family will love the non-stop live music, carnival games, face painting and food booths.

Check out the Golden State Theatre on Alverado where the Monterey County Pops put on a free patriotic concert accompanied by a high tech laser show. The doors open at 6pm and the program begins at 7pm.

Carmel
There will be live classic rock music at Devondorf park downtown.  Booths, food and games for the family.  The action starts at 12 Noon.

Pacific Grove
Music and BBQ at Caledonia Park from 10:30am-3:00pm.
There will be live music from Firefly and Mambo Wally, games, popcorn and snow cones. Don't miss the old-fashioned BBQ which includes chicken or hot dogs, baked beans, garlic bread, salad and dessert. The BBQ lunch is a steal at $10 for chicken and $5 hot dogs.

FEAST OF LANTERNS
July 27-31, 2016
Pacific Grove, California

The Pacific Grove Feast of Lanterns is a community celebration. The event includes a lantern pageant, children's activities, and a pet parade. Local high school students are named to the "Royal Court" and receive an academic scholarship.

On Friday, enjoy the Feast of Lanterns Pet Parade. Pets will march the streets of Lighthouse Avenue beginning at 2:30pm.

Saturday, is Pageant Day at Lover's Point Beach beginning at 11am. The day will include children's activities, food booths, a sand castle contest and the pageant beginning at 7:45pm.

Sunday, will conclude the Feast of Lanterns Festival. The closing ceremony will take place at 2pm at Chautauqua Hall.

MOSS LANDING ANTIQUE STREET FAIR

Moss Landing becomes the antique capital of the world every year on the last Sunday in July with the Moss Landing Antique Street Fair. This year, the Fair celebrates its 47th anniversary, and will be bigger and better than ever! Over 200 antique vendors will set up booths on the streets of Moss Landing, selling antique furniture and every kind of vintage item imaginable from 8am-5pm.
Admission is $5 and children 12 and under are admitted for free.

Pebble Beach Golf Course

This tournament on the Champions Tour is held at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Poppy Hills Golf Course. Each foursome includes a Champions Tour Player, an accomplished junior player (age 15 to 18) and two paying amateurs. This format provides spectators with the opportunity to see past champions playing alongside the future stars of the PGA and LPGA TOUR. Admission is free to this event.

Tickets are $20 per person, box seats are available for $30 and, for a better view, premium box seats tickets are $35 each.

Take a left onto 68 as you exit the RV park at Laguna Seca Recreation Area.  Take a right on Blanco and then take 101 N.  Take the Fairview Ave exit. Follow the “Airshow Parking” signs which will have you turn right onto Sanborn Rd. then right onto John St. and right onto E. Alisal St. The signs will direct you to the airshow parking lots.

The United States Air Force Thunderbirds perform among other stunning aviators.

BIG SUR HALF MARATHON

Runners start the half marathon in downtown Monterey, pass Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium then into Pacific Grove and Point Pinos.  The turn around point is
located at Asilomar State Beach. heading back onto the trail, which will carry them all the way to the finish line at Custom House Plaza.  There is also a health fair with a large number of vendors in the plaza.
