The party can never start too early at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, with celebrity entertainers and PGA TOUR stars popping the cork on festivities with special events on Tuesday, Feb. 6, and Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The Chevron Shoot-Out, “Champions Vs. Champions” gets things rolling Tuesday with AT&T Pro-Am past champions competing with select champions from the sports world in a $100,000 team putting competition at the Pebble Beach Golf Links practice green (across from The Lodge), starting at 1 p.m.
Participants scheduled to appear include two-time champions Dustin Johnson (2009, 2010) and Brandt Snedeker (2013, 2015), 2016 champion Vaughn Taylor and 2011 champion D.A. Points. Sports champions include pro football stars Aaron Rodgers and Larry Fitzgerald, all-star pitcher Justin Verlander, and surfing icon Kelly Slater. Player winnings go to a charity of choice.
Also Tuesday, fans can check out the 2017 Houston Astros World Series trophy on display for photos opportunities from 8 a.m. to noon.
The first event Wednesday is the 3M Celebrity Challenge, which features celebrity contestants on Team (Bill) Murray and Team (Clint) Eastwood in a five-hole charity match, starting at 11 a.m. Teams plays holes 1-2-3-17-18 at Pebble Beach Golf Links in the $100,000 challenge, with player winnings going to a charity of choice. Scheduled to appear: Clint Eastwood, Bill Murray, John Duhamel, Juli Inkster, Huey Lewis, Alfonso Ribeiro, Kelly Rohrbach, and Clay Walker. Fans will be able to watch the “Draw Party” live on Instagram @attproam beginning at 10:30 am.
For more fun, Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. the Million Dollar Hole-in-One for Charity presented by Facebook features the entire field of celebrity amateurs and athletes in the tournament taking a shot at $1 million for an ace on the 7th hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Last year the hillside spectating area overlooking the 7th hole was packed with fans cheering on the participants.
The three preliminary charity events serve as “opening acts” for the marquee event, the 2018 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a $7.4 million purse PGA TOUR event played over Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Monterey Peninsula Country Club Shore Course for three rounds, with the final round at Pebble Beach.
This year’s incredible lineup of competitors is led by the top three players in the world: two-time past champion Dustin Johnson, the No. 1-ranked player in the world; new No. 2-ranked Jon Rahm, the 23-year-old Spaniard who won the recent CareerBuilder Challenge in Palm Springs; and No. 3 Jordan Spieth, the defending AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am champion.
Expected to be a huge attraction is Irish superstar Rory McIlroy, the No. 11 player in the world, who is making his first appearance in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Celebrity newcomers this year include Chris Harrison of “The Bachelor” and Pat Monahan, lead singer from Train. They join a long list of fan favorites that includes actors Mark Wahlberg and Chris O’Donnell; TV personality Carson Daly; and country music legend Toby Keith.
Adding to the pleasures of Pebble Beach Golf Links are numerous fan enhancement venues, including the popular Triangle Plaza, atop the hill overlooking holes 6, 8, 14 (home to Club Patrón, the AT&T FanDome and the Triangle Taco Bar).
