This might be the very best time of the year on the Monterey Peninsula. No guarantees of course, but, very often the weather is spectcaular in September and October. If that wasn't enough, the last week of August leading up to, and including Labor Day weekend is full of fun. The Monterey County Fair begins Thursday, August 31 and runs through Sunday, September 4th which is Labor Day. Of course, a great midway with games, rides, music, food, shows and livestock competition. and there's plenty more... On Friday at the Carmel Plaza there will be live music in the evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with special food and wine. Just a couple of blocks away at the Golden Bough theater, they will be presenting Shrek The Musical Friday night Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday night..
The only Labor Day Parade in the area will be the Labor Day parade and Festival in Marina from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ... The parade will start at reservation and Crescent Avenue. plenty of food and drink after the parade as well... and for the little ones my museum in Monterey is presenting the Three Piggy Opera on Saturday from 1:30 to 2 p.m.
