They were once considered one of the most powerful rock and roll radio stations in America. WBCN-FM broke acts, and was a leader for the new progressive lifestyle.
Owner CBS announced today they will turn off WBCN from the airwaves, but keep it alive as an internet only station. They'll move their AC station, WBMX-FM from the 98.5 spot and put it on WBCN's old 104.1 frequency. Then, they'll put an all sports station at the 98.5 spot.The new station will be billed as "The Sports Hub" and will reportedly air live play by play of the Patriots, the Bruins and others.
