Half Moon Bay Art Glass
12341 - 1 San Mateo Road (Hwy 92)
Half Moon Bay, CA  94019

Half Moon Bay Art Glass offers glass sculpting classes to novice and more experienced glass artists of all ages.  Weekends 10am-5pm

I stopped by and met owner and artist, Douglass C. Brown.  The studio features his creations and you will see them displayed and for sale in several shops downtown Half Moon Bay.

While I was there, several women who had created their own glass project the day before, stopped by to pick up their now fully cooled glass projects.   They were thrilled to see their finished product and told me they had so much fun creating them.

There is a short, beginners class that costs $40.  In this class you can make a heart, a paperweight, or a pumpkin...  There are also two and four hours classes which include learning to actually blow the glass into a shape that run about $160.

If you don't want to make anything at the studio, you can get a demo or purchase any of Douglass's already completed pieces.    Every Columbus Day weekend in October, Douglass hosts the annual Pumpkin Patch sale of over 1,000 glass pumpkins.  (You do know that Half Moon Bay is famous for their annual Pumpkin Festival...)  The glass pumpkins are all set up outside at the winery with the sun providing the perfect lighting for these beautiful and whimsical pumpkins.

Open Fri-Mon 10am-5pm
Groups are welcome and reservations are preferred.

Take a right as you exit Pillar Point RV Park.  Go three miles on Highway 1 and take a left onto Highway 92.    Travel one mile east and the winery will be on your right...kitty corner to Lemos Farm.  The studio is located in the back of the La Nebbia Winery.
