Right across Hwy 1 within walking distance from Pillar Point RV Park is Creekside Smokehouse. It doesn't look like much from the outside but inside, well, it doesn't look like much on the inside either...lol...but you will find some really friendly folks and some of the best smoked fish and cheese in the area. http://www.creeksidesmokehouse.com/
We tried smoked salmon from the Klamath river, the salmon jerkey, and several of the cheeses. The best! My absolute favorite was the smoked pepper jack. Along with the smoked fish and cheeses, Creekside offers smoked butter! Yes! They were touted in the December 2010 issue of Food & Wine Magazine for this unique and fabulous offering. The butter is cold smoked for ten hours and adds a light smokey flavor to any food. Teri suggests using it on corn on the cob, rubbing it on poultry, popcorn or in scrambled eggs to give them a smokey flavor.
Owner, Dave grew up in Half Moon Bay and has been smoking fish for years. He really is an artist at what he does.
