I took a walk today following the path that runs in front of Pillar Point RV Park and made my way to Pillar Point Harbor. It's only about a three block walk along the ocean, so it's a wonderful way to get in a little exercise. Along the way I saw pelicans, seagulls, families playing and others relaxing in the sun, just reading a book and having lunch.
In this photo, you can see the rv park just to the left pelican's head beside the hotel. See what a great walk it is?

Pillar Point Harbor is still a major fishing harbor. And lucky for us, some of the fishermen will sell you their days catch right off the boat. Today, August 10th, I ran across a boat right off the dock that was selling some beautiful salmon. Starting in November, they will have wonderful crab, the best of the season.
So if you're looking for dinner, check the harbor first before you hit the grocery store to see what the fisherman are offering today. You'll be glad you did.

Also while I was on the dock, the 50 foot Queen of Hearts boat came in with 23 people aboard who had spent the day fishing. Most everyone had one if not two 11-20 pound salmon that they had caught. Everyone was happy, but tired. Bringing in those big salmon isn't as easy as one would think...they put up quite a fight. The Queen of Hearts also hosts whale watching tours January through March.
