NO FIREWORKS
AT PILLAR POINT RV PARK
Well, dang! Unfortunately, the city of Half Moon Bay will not be shooting fireworks off the jetty again this year due to budgetary issues...AND firing off personal fireworks is forbidden.
*
The Half Moon Bay Police Department, Coastside Fire Protection District, and California State Parks want us to remind everyone that all fireworks are illegal in Half Moon Bay, including "Safe and Sane" fireworks that are sold at booths located around the area.
*
According to the local authorities they "will be enforcing the prohibition on fireworks to fullest extent of the law." People caught setting off fireworks near or around the beach or in Pillar Point RV Park will have the items confiscated and may receive a citation or arrest. Also, if you set off fireworks and it causes a fire, you can be charged criminally and be taken to court to pay for the cost of the fire. The sheriff says they will be patrolling the area on the 4th.
*
WHAT IS ILLEGAL?
Essentially, anything that has a flame, emits sparks, smoke or explodes is illegal to possess or use. The "Zero Tolerance" policy means that anyone caught with fireworks, including sparklers and explosives can be cited or arrested.
-----
As always on the 4th.....Don't forget your pets. The noises and commotion of the holiday can be very stressful on your animals. Keep animals indoors and away from the noise if fireworks are shot off wherever you are...

IS THERE ANYWHERE WE CAN SHOOT OFF FIREWORKS?
One of the few communities that will allow fireworks this year is the town of Pacifica to the north....Here is what their city rules have stipulated
The defined portion of Pacifica State Beach/Linda Mar
where "safe and sane" fireworks are allowed is described
as the area immediately west of the north parking lot of
Pacifica State Beach/Linda Mar to approximately ten feet
(10') east of the tideline and immediately north of the Taco
Bell Restaurant (5200 Coast Highway) to the prolongation of
the north end of the north Pacifica State Beach/Linda Mar
parking lot.
Two Other Sites:
1) South Pacifica State Beach/Linda Mar parking lot on the
asphalt area of the parking lot.
2) South Rockaway Beach parking lot on the asphalt area
of the parking lot.
