Farmer John's Pumpkin Patch

It's that time of the year again and everyone seems to be on the search for their perfect pumpkin.   I recently took a drive between Santa Cruz and Pacifica and counted 27 pumpkin patches, not counting the patches in the local grocery stores.

Of all the places to visit, to find the most unique and colorful pumpkins, you must visit Farmer John's Pumpkin Patch on Highway One, just a couple of blocks north of Highway 92.   There is lots of off street parking.

Wagons and wheel barrows are there for you to use to gather your pumpkins.  Parents snap so many cute photos with their kids in the wagons with their picks.   There's an indian teepee to explore and areas that are perfect for taking family photos.

(This shot shows barely 25% of the entire pumpkin patch!)

The patch is huge and all the pumpkins are arranged by type of pumpkin...white ones, yellow ones, giant ones, small ones, pumpkins with freckles...and even some orange ones!   They also sell stalks of Brussel Sprouts, goose neck gourds and a variety of cooking pumpkins.

Farmer John and his wife are very nice and are on hand to answer your questions and tell you about the pumpkins and their seeds.

I think this gourd looks like a snail!
