It's going to be an incredible weekend at Pillar Point RV Park!  The Mavericks festival is an easy walk from the park!

All roads to the bluffs and beach will be blocked off, so viewing of the event will take place in the Oceano Hotel parking lot.  Tickets must be purchased to enter the area where you can watch the event on big screen, have a beer and meet the surfers.    Last year, the event sold out at 8:30am, so you may want to purchase your tickets now online using the link we provided above.

RVer's staying at Pillar Point RV Park can walk to the event or ride your bike.  There will be a bike valet on site.

previous update:

Just as we posted yesterday about the big waves, comes news that Jeff Clark may be calling for Mavericks to begin....  The light is yellow for surfers meaning they should stand by!

The big decision is based on safety at this point.  Will the huge swell expected and south winds, Jeff wants to make sure that everyone, not just the surfers, but the folks in the boats, will be safe.  

Wow!  Can you imagine Mavericks not being called because the surf was too big and too dangerous?   A final answer about this weekend is expected by the end of the day, today, Wednesday, January 22, 2014.
