MOUNTAIN BIKING
In the Half Moon Bay Area
(and more)
Mountain biking has become more and more popular over the years. There's a whole range of skill sets that need to be honed in order to safely navigate those rustic mountain trails. Pump Tracks are simulated mountain trails that help you build those skills. A new pump track recently opened in Santa Cruz.

West Side Pump Track on the west side of Santa Cruz (100 Western Drive) is the closest pump track to Pillar Point RV Park. This facility is managed by the city of Santa Cruz. Westside is a carefully crafted 5,000 sq. ft dirt track with banked curves and rapid rollers. The object is to use your body weight to 'pump' through the terrain rather than pedal through.

The track is free. Open from sunrise to sunset. Helmets are required. *
While a pump track may seem daunting for a beginner to tackle, the track was built for anyone who can ride a bike. Not only is it good practice for the mountain trails, but a good work out for adults as well. Anyway, the track offers families something to do besides just go to the Boardwalk. P.S. The Westside area also has a terrific Farmer's Market on Saturdays 9am-1pm.
