Thar She Blows!
Three humpback whales whipped up the energy level at Pillar Point RV Park this morning!
The whales came close to the jetty and proceeded to feed on a school of fish that had entered the bay.
We saw several breaches along the way as the bayleen whales scooped up huge
mouthfuls of tasty treats from below, breaking up through the water and then slamming their massive bodies back down again. I would say they dallied in our part of the bay for a good twenty minutes. Lots of observers gathered and all were thrilled by seeing these beautiful beasts in their natural habitat. Then just as suddenly as they came, they disappeared, headed north along their seasonal migration.
Like I always say, you never know what you're going to see when you visit Pillar Point RV Park in Half Moon Bay!
