Where else can you pull into an RV park, slap on your wet suit and head right to the surf? Right next door to Pillar Point RV park is beautiful Surfer Beach, one of the most popular spots for surfing along the California coast. And now Surfer Beach has just had a 1.8 million dollar facelift. Going back in December of 2015 Caltrans and the county of San Mateo began a restoration project that would  shore up the beach against Highway 1... Construction crews came in with massive rocks and rebuilt the Seawall... Then they made it safer by adding a beautiful wide staircase down to the beach. Before that addition, beach goers had to climb down the rocks or a slippery sand path.. And to complete the project they paved a long stretch of the California Coastal Trail right in front of the beach to make walking and bike riding easier and safer as well…

On Friday, (September 2nd) the local dignitaries  gathered to dedicate the new improvements and to cut the official opening ribbon..San Mateo County supervisor, Don Horsley told us that he was pleased with the project, other than added some protection of the wood on the stairs.  He did tell us that talks were going on with harbor organizations about adding more sand to the beach.
