Caltrans has begun work on the Surfer's Beach shoreline protection project.    Work includes installing a rock slope to protect a 175 foot section of Surfer's Beach to keep the ocean from eroding the beach bluff away to Highway One.

CALIFORNIA COASTAL CLEAN-UP DAY



This upcoming Saturday is Coastal Clean Up Day at Pillar Point RV Park.   While this is a special day, it's important that all beach visitors do their best to pick up their own trash and litter every day.   If you visit us next weekend, perhaps you will wish to get involved in the event.

I've said it before, but you never know what's going to happen when you stay a Pillar Point RV Park.   A short walk along the bike path today brought a delightful surprise to all who witnessed it.   A dot.com company landed a big client and today, treated their employees by renting out the entire "Sam's Chowder House" restaurant.

There is so much to see in the Bay Area that it's easy to miss Land's End on the northwest corner of the city. But the Land's End area is so unique, beautiful and historical..not to mention very easy to get to, that you should not miss it.

From Pillar Point you just go north on Highway 1 to the 35 turnoff...then travel north to the Great Highway and you will run on to the Land's End area...

A must thing to do while you are staying at Pillar Point RV Park is to walk, bike or drive over to Pillar Point Beach and take a walk on the path around the Air Force station to the Maverick's surf area.  It's peaceful and it's beautiful.  Walk on the path or drive north on Highway 1 to Capistrano and turn left..follow the street around to the Mezza Luna restaurant and turn left on Prospect...a short block, turn right on Broadway...as ...

MARINE RESERVE


Tide pools are loved by adults and kids alike.  The amazing James V. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, home of the biggest area of tide pools I've ever seen,  is just a short two miles away.   There you will find a colorful variety of seaweed, crabs, sponges, anemones, sea stars, mollusks and fish.

There are trails accessible for walking and running.  Stairs lead from the parking lot down to the tidepools.
