The Lady Washington visits Pillar Point Harbor!



We saw the Lady Washington arrive as she sailed full mast past Pillar Point RV Park.    The ship was available for a free tour for two days and you could book a one hour or three hour ride.

Half Moon Bay Kayak Company


Just a short walk down the path that runs in front of the Pillar Point RV Park is the Half Moon Bay Kayak Company.   If you're taking a stroll toward the Harbor you can't miss the colorful collection of kayaks on the beach.

They offer a whole range of tours, classes and camps for people of all ages.

THE JOHNSTON HOUSE


James Johnston's white salt box house sits on a hill facing the ocean just south of Half Moon Bay on Highway 1.  In 1853, Johnston owned all the land from his home to the ocean.   He built the house for his wife, Petra.  It was the first all wood house to be built in the area.  (slide show is below and an interview with a docent )

Right across Hwy 1 within walking distance from Pillar Point RV Park is Creekside Smokehouse.   It doesn't look like much from the outside but inside, well, it doesn't look like much on the inside either...lol...but you will find some really friendly folks and some of the best smoked fish and cheese in the area.

While the wind was rattling our travel trailer this morning and the sound of the rain drowning out my thoughts, you still don't know what delights are coming your way.   I looked out the window and right there, in front of us in the Pillar Point Harbor were two very brave kite surfers.    The wind was right, the harbor smooth and a couple of young men came to take advantage of the nearly perfect conditions.  (no rai...



We had a good strong rain last night...perfect for sleeping.  The sun is breaking through this morning and the air is fresh and clean.    As I rounded our travel trailer to check out the ocean, I was caught by the beauty of the clouds.
