The oldest golf course in San Francisco is also one of its best kept secrets and one of the most unique courses you'll ever play.  Lincoln Park's first 3 holes were built in 1902 overlooking the Golden Gate bridge.  As cemeteries were moved out of San Francisco and Lincoln Park, more holes were added until it became a full fledged 18 hole course by 1914.  The golf course is easy to get to from any place in the bay area...just abou...

Just half an hour away from Pillar Point RV park is the seven hundred acre Coyote Point recreation area... Just go straight across 92 East to highway 101 go north for 3 miles and you're there...  (Take video tour below)

Newell Ficker is the starter at Half Moon Bay golf course, just 10 minutes away from Pillar Point RV Park.  Newell also is the top teaching pro in the area, operating from the wonderful Ocean View Driving Range on Kelly in Half Moon Bay.  That driving, putting, chipping range is the only one within 20 miles.  Newell recently moved here from Colorado.  He grew up in Maine and was happy to get back to the ocean after some years...

ANYWAY...
Just about 20 minutes away from Pillar Point RV Park just north of Half Moon Bay is the Olympic Club...the site of this year's U.S. Open Golf Tournament.  You can stay at Pillar Point and get back to the peace and quiet after a day in the crowds.  Here is a press release from the San Francisco visitors bureau we received this week on the tournament, golf in San Francisco and the city...

While you are staying at Pillar Point RV Park you are just minutes away from the world champion Half Moon Bay golf course.  Half Moon Bay golf course is built around the beautiful Ritz-Carlton hotel and the views are unmatchable.  There are two courses..the ocean course and the Old course.  Both are great, and impeccably maintained.

We played both courses and loved them.  But, the best part about Half Moon Bay Golf cour...
