Haha...get the pun?  The beach gets shored up?  Yea, yea...ok...I won't do it again...

Caltrans has begun work on the Surfer's Beach shoreline protection project.    Work includes installing a rock slope to protect a 175 foot section of Surfer's Beach to keep the ocean from eroding the beach bluff away to Highway One.

It's been 11 days now since the huge bait ball of anchovies came into the bay in front of Pillar Point RV Park and the birds are still feeding as frenzied as they did on the first day the school of fish arrived.

Talk about a beautiful day!   We have been having incredible weather here at Pillar Point RV Park.   The park is in the middle of two beautiful beaches.  Here's the view of the beach looking south at "Surfer's Beach" from our rig...
Today at Pillar Point RV Park

The wind was blowing and a bit chilly, but it made for some great waves and at least two dozen surfers were out taking advantage of the action on Surfer Beach.  They were joined by windsurfers, kite surfers and some Stand Up Paddling (SUP) surfers.

The waves were beautiful to watch as they crashed into the rocks and the surfers were entertaining as they made their runs.  In California terms, it was freezing...
