Civil War Living History Day
Saturday, Jan. 25th 2014
10am-5pm
Fort Point
999 Marine Drive
San Francisco, CA
Come experience history first hand!
Demonstrations include musicians, infantry and artillery drill, medicine in the 1800s, and the daily life of soldiers and civilians of the era.
*
Fort Point is a National Historic site located in the Presidio under the southern anchorage of the Golden Gate Bridge.
*
From its vantage point overlooking the spectacular Golden Gate, Fort Point protected San Francisco harbor from Confederate and foreign attack during and after the U.S. Civil War. Its beautifully arched casemates display the art of the master brick mason from the Civil War period.
*
Additional parking is available at the Crissy Field lot near the Warming Hut and on the hill overlooking the Fort.
FREE admission.
- Infantry drills occur almost every hour on the hour.
- Artillery discussions occur every hour on the half hour.
- Concurrent demonstrations throughout the day—medical demos, musician (fife / drum and brass band), and civilians (camp laundress, sewing, etc).
