One of the surprises you don't want to get out on the road is to realize that there are items on your RV or trailer that are lower than your bumper...such as the valves on your dump.  When backing up your vehicle be sure to watch for railroad ties or other blocks that are often designed to set off an RV site. It's very easy to hit one of your dump valves and just the slightest bend in that valve can render them unusable.  Look below...
Before you back in to your site, don't forget to remove your anti-sway bar...first of all, with the sharp turns you make when backing up, you can damage your device..and secondly, it will impede the turns you want to make..finally, it often makes a lot of noise when you're trying to back up with it on that makes it sound like there's something wrong...so, first thing, before you start to back up..take off that anti-sway bar....
While we're on the subject of making sure your refrigerator is okay while it is being stored for awhile, a lot of RV'ers will put a small pillow in the door and tie it around the frig to keep the door open and keep it aired out.  This also helps with that mold and mildew problem we've been talking about....
Bringing out the RV after having stored it for awhile can bring you some unwelcome surprises particuarly inside the refrigerator.  Nasty, mold and mildew.  One of our neighbors here at Pismo Coast Village gave us a great tip. Before you shut the fridge door for awhile, prepare a solution, that is one part bleach and one part water.  Then, wipe down every inch of the refrigerator with the solution.  Once done and dry go back i...
Today's RV Tip comes from one of our neighbors here at Pismo Coast Village who showed us some damage to his travel trailer that she attributed to a power washer that got a bit too "powerful." Decals on travel trailers are easily damaged by too much pressure, but even worse is the seams on the trailer.  Our neighbor showed me a seam seal that had been compromised, which resulted in a leak, which she said had happened because of the power was...
Fernando gave us a great tip about your awning today.  Perhaps you don't use yours except on a rare occassion. But, you should still unroll it more frequently.  Humidity gets in your awning and can severely damage it with mold and mildew.  So, even if you have it parked for awhile, make sure to unroll the awning and let it air out now and then....thanks Fernando!...
The weather is absolutely perfect here in Pismo Coast Village and the kids are on spring break, so the resort is all abuzz with laughter and activity!

I just love this place when it's full of families!  The swimming pool is hopping, ice cream is walking out the general store and kids are full of sand coming back from the beach.   At night, you can smell the bonfires and hear the laughter of friends.  Folks are strolling...
With 400 sites and families gathering....At times here at Pismo Coast Village there can be close to a thousand people staying here...With all those people, what is amazing is how quiet it is..particularly in the evening...There is a written and unwritten RV law that it's quiet time after 10pm and it stays that way to at least 7 or 8 in the morning.  The only sound you generally hear after 10pm at Pismo Coast Village is the dominant sound of...
You know those great glass mugs you love to drink your root beer floats from at home?  Well, we have found they aren't such a good idea on the road.  When deciding what is going into your travel trailer or other RV out on the road, we have discovered "think light and think plastic." Not only will they break when flying out of the cabinet, but, even worse than that, they'll break other stuff.  We are in the process of repairing the...
Here's a news flash.  Your RV is a lot taller than your car.  Dean from Australia is at Pismo Coast Village for a few days with his family.  He rented an RV and is fairly new at RVing..he's got a pretty good sized rental and is touring the U.S.  Right before he left, the renter noted they had just put a new awning on the vehicle because the last renter had destroyed it.  So, Dean reminded himself to be careful a...
