The RVIA is doing a wonderful job in promoting "the comeback" of RV sales...particularly with their "Go Rving" series. And, sales certainly are better than the were last year (isn't everything?)...but not back up to speed yet. If you remember what started all this, certainly for the RV world was the huge increase in gasoline prices. Of course, from there, the banking and financing problem took hold, followed by unemployment, drastic drop in housing prices, etc, etc.
And, now, as gasoline prices edge their way back up, it's almost "here we go again." Does anybody think gas isn't going back to the $4 mark in the next few months? In all the interviews we do with the wonderful experts in the RV field, we also sneak in the question about alternative fuels...and so far, it doesn't look like there is much movement away from gasoline and diesel in the RV manufacturing world.
One interesting development is what Roush Enterprises is doing with propane. They have had amazing success with Ford trucks of late, for example. We were fortunate enough to have Todd Mouw, head of sales and marketing for Roush on with us on RV Dream Radio. You can hear it on the main RV Dream New Radio playlist above...or if you just want to listen to it...We have added a stand alone version here...
