A great place for a hike, a bike ride, to dive or watch birds is Point Lobos, located just off Highway 1 headed south toward Big Sur. (see the video below)
SCUBA diving, snorkeling, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding reservations can be made for Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. Reservations can be made 60 days in advance or as little as one day in advance.

They are pretty serious about this rule...I don't get it, but just know ahead of time so you
don't have to turn around and go home.
Directions:
15-20 minutes. Take a right onto Highway 68 as you leave Laguna Seca RV Park. That will dump you onto Highway 1 south, toward Big Sur. Travel Highway 1 past Monterey, Pebble Beach and Carmel. The park entrance will be on your right. It's well marked.
The three-day State Parks pass gives visitors three days of in-and-out privileges at every California State Park in Monterey County, including Point Lobos, Pfeiffer Big Sur, Andrew Molera State Park and Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park.
