When people often think of lighthouses, they usually think of the famous towers that dot Cape Cod or the coast of Maine. But California has 15 historic lighthouses, including the oldest and tallest lighthouses on the West Coast.

“Most people know about our historic Spanish missions. But not that many people know about our lighthouses,” said Debbie Sipe, executive director of the California Association of RV Parks and Campground...

The 49 Mile Scenic drive was created in 1938 by the Downtown Association to highlight the city’s beauty and to promote it as a tourist destination. The route was also created as a way for visitors to see San Francisco while they were here for the Golden Gate International Exposition from 1939-1940.

The route starts at City Hall and takes you along many of San Francisco’s historic and iconic landmarks.  Printed map...

Everyone knows that there are names for groups of animals, a pride of lions, a raft of otters, or a bed of oysters etc.    So I got to thinking one day and wondered what do you call groups of people all engaged in a specific activity?

Example: When I drove along Highway One along the California coast yesterday from Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay, I passed a beach where there were 20 kite surfers catching the wind and speeding across t...

Napa Valley is just 30 miles long and a few miles wide,
but is home to over 400 wineries.

We first visited Napa mid October and the valley was busy harvesting and crushing.  The entire valley had the smell of wine in the air.   We were staying at Vineyard RV Park in Vacaville at the time...

You can drive yourself or hire a limo to take you from winery to winery, but whatever you do, Grgich Winery is one stop that we particular...

California is paying a dollar more a gallon in
gasoline than the rest of the U.S.

It has never been that different. Start with the environmentalists who have pushed to have supposedly ultra clean gasoline specifications... when refineries are off line in California they cannot ask for help from neighboring states because of the strict mixtures. California also pays higher crude oil costs..the lack of pipelines into the state, again kept ou...

How about some free food!    If you're tired of paying way too much for half a crab in a highly average restaurant, why not just go get your own fresh Dungeness crab right out of the ocean?

From Kamp Klamath, in Klamath, California, it's a beautiful 20 mile drive by the ocean and through the redwoods to Crescent City.  On our way to visit the lighthouse, we s...

This is a terrific service we stumbled onto today and we wanted you to know about it if you have RV problems from Lompoc to San Jose.  Greg's Mobile RV service will come to you wherever you are to fix a myriad of problems, and he says his rates are lower because his overhead is less than having a staid garage.  We called Greg and did a quick interview with him which is on RV Dream Radio...In the meantime we'll mark this in the "Repair"...
