According to AAA, the average prices of a gallon of regular gas in the U.S. rose 5.1% of 17 cents to $3.50 per gallon yesterday.  This marks the first monthly increase since March and the largest July increase in at least 12 years.  $3.42 was the average price of gas in July and was the third highest average price for July ever recorded. The Lundberg Survey reported last night that the average price of gasoline has increased 12 cents per gallon to $3.36..that's compared to three weeks ago.  Lundberg says it's because the price of crude oil has gone up.  Crude has gone up 19 cents a gallon but retailers have only passed 12 cents on to consumers...so far. The $3.36 average is up 27.8 cents per gallon from a year ago at this time.  Salt Lake City has the lowest price...

The Lundberg survey reported yesterday that the national average for gasoline is at $2.92.
