While there is something magical about being deep in the redwoods for long periods of time, you do need to enter the real world once in a while to get supplies.    Around Klamath, there are a number of lodges where you can get a good meal, and there's the gas station mart where you can pick up a quart of milk or bread, but if you actually want to get hamburger, veggies or fresh fruit, you need to make the 20 mile trip to Crescent ...
The gray whales, Lucy and Little Ricky (my personal names for the mother and calf) have been in the Klamath River for six days now and seem to be content staying in the very spot of the river where we first saw them.

People are still gathering and quietly watching them from the banks of the river, many now with high powered camera lenses taking pictures.    Friday, we saw a person with the trunk of his car open, ...
Just down the road and up the mountain a bit from Kamp Klamath, in Klamath, California is one of the most beautiful, secluded and unknown picnic areas that I've ever seen.  No RV's or trailers allowed past the turn off  point on Beach Road because the road turns into gravel, is narrow and has a 10% down hill grade.  You can walk down, or it's easy to take your tow vehicle.  We made the ride in our Roadtrek no problem.  T...
I'll let you in on a big secret...  One of the new delicacies we've learned about eating Salmon is the back!   Once the filets have been taken off, you're left with the skeleton remains of the fish, but among that structure is some of the most amazing bits of salmon you'll ever taste!

Reduce, recycle, reuse....no where is this idea more evident than at Kamp Klamath in Klamath, California.  Whether you RV or camp, everyone here does their part in saving and replenishing the river and the land of the Redwoods.   We have learned there is thought and purpose behind every decision that is made here.    There are goats, chickens, rabbits and gardens that sustain the work campers and visitors to the par...
Every Saturday night is always "good eatin' night" while we are here at Kamp Klamath, our home for a month or so, along the mouth of the Klamath River in northern California.

Saturdays are all you can eat BBQ salmon night and the campers as well as local folks from around the area come together to celebrate the days' catch.  We all sit by the bonfire, eat and listen to entertainer extrodinaire, Douglas King sing, play guit...

No trains, planes or traffic...just the brilliant sound of silence.   The trees don't even dare rustle in the breeze...   We thought we had been living the dream until we arrived at our current destination, Kamp Klamath, in Klamath, California, deep in the heart of the Redwood National Park and beside the Klamath River.   We are just 20 miles south of Crescent City, along the California Coast, in the tribal lands of the ...
