We all like to make jokes about highway workers...none gets more verbal abuse than "Cal-Trans" in California.  But, if no other place, when you drive Highway 101 with its beautiful, almost perfect roads and safety features, it makes you want to stop and shake their hand and thank them for their service to the community.  Also, Cal-Trans has an excellent website which lets you type in any highway number and get a detailed list of the wo...

RV'ers are rapidly learning the importance of their smart phone as they travel down the nation's highways...My Droid has kept me from running out ot gas more than one time by directing me to the nearest service station.  The device has become my RV "Swiss army knife for all it can do.  One of the things it has done lately, especially as we came in to Los Angeles was not only give me the route but let me know what the traffic was like.&...

We visited the National Assoiciation of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas last month and ran on to a new service (at least for us) called Beat The Traffic.  This is worth checking out if when you are on the road.  Great personal alerts, real time maps, etc...

New York-Philadelphia-Washington, DC – Interstate 95.  This corridor is easily the slowest 225 miles of highway during the holidays.  The section from the Delaware Memorial Bridge to the George Washington Bridge is the worst of it.
