It's the Monterey Peinsula's Secret Season ..Best time of the year at this wonderful place!

Locals and insiders often refer to this time of the year on the Monterey Peninsula as "The Secret Season." September and October, and even in to November, are the sunniest months of the year here. And the average high temperature is about 71 degrees with lows at night averaging a very pleasant 53 degrees. Add to that, many tourists have already had their vacation and the kids are back in school, meaning fewer people visiting the area. That means smaller crowds at the Aquarium and other major attractions. It also results in an easier to get table at one of the many high quality restaurants and a more accessible tee time on one of the 20 or so golf courses, a quick drive away from Saddle Mountain Ranch.

September is California Wine Month by the way, and this is the time of the year the grapes are being harvested in the area. From Saddle Mountain Ranch you can see vineyards out past the Carmel Valley Village or take a quick drive over the grade to River Road. There are 22 wine tasting rooms in the village and a dozen more in Carmel by the Sea.
Just because it's no longer summer, don't think things have closed down...far from it.
Peter Pan is being performed at the newly remodeled Forest Theater, now through September 24th, Thursdays through Sundays.
If car racing is your choice, there are two major races coming up at Laguna Seca. The Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix September 21-24 and the Pirelli World Championship October 12 - 15
And, October is the time for the Butterfly Parade and return of the Monarchs in Pacific Grove..an amazing spectacle.

This is only the beginning of all the incredible events on the Monterey Peinusla during this "Secret Season." For more details check our Calendar in Categories on this page.
