"MJ" Schnitt announced by Twitter on Thursday that he was leaving his morning show at WFLZ-FM/93.3.  "Let me be first to officially announce that Feb. 17 will be the last broadcast of "The MJ Morning Show." 18 great years!," He said his last show will be February 17.  Schnittt explained, "I can now focus 100 percent of my energy on the growing national footprint of 'The Schnitt Show.' This also lets me spend more time with my family." ...

Like it says above my desk.."there ain't no geniuses here"...and that certainly applies to a morning radio show.  There's a million theories and a million other ways to do a show.  But, after working with morning radio for more years than I care to count, as they say, it seems to me there are some basic elements to doing a morning radio show.  So, here's my Top 10 list...I hope you'll add your own view of these basics in comments below...

In today's Chicago Tribune Patrick Kampert gives 6 good reasons why the "shock jocks" of yesterday are going away.  This includes the FCC crackdown, advertisers reluctance to advertise on certain shows, a cut back in morning show staff, the "tenor of the times" and others.  Of particular interest in Patrick's column is a quote from Derrick Brown, PD of WVAZ-FM in Chicago who noted that electronic measurement (PPM) is changing everything...Brown ...
